So I just got back from Panama City Florida for Spring Break (#1 Spring Break Destination and home of Mtv's Spring Break of course). It was absolutely crazy. Let's start with the concerts. On Wednesday, I saw Asher Roth and Jim Jones. Asher put on a sick show with some new unreleased tracks. He really got the College kids acting in their true element when he performed his hit single. He also performed Blunt Cruise and La Di Da, which will be featured on his forthcoming album. Jim Jones also put on quite the show, performing one of my favorite tracks right now (Blow The Bank). On Thursday I saw Kid Cudi and Lil' Wayne. Cudi was a little low key considering the College Wayne fans weren't very familiar with his music. He put on a great set though. Then the self-proclaimed Martian came onstage with his whole crew, Including Mack Maine, Jae Millz, Lil' Chuckie, Nicki Minaj, Gudda Gudda and the almighty Drake. The YME crew performed Every Girl, which honestly made my trip worthwhile. On the last night, Clipse also put on a free show in the parking lot of Club Lavela. They confirmed that their first single will be with Kanye titled Kind of A Big Deal (just to clear the rumors going on about the track not being released via other blogs). They performed a sick set including the obvious Grindin and Mr. Me Too as well as some other classics like Ride Around Shining and Cot Damn. Did I mention all these concerts were free and they were on the beach in 75 degree absolutely perfect weather, with a pounding system provided by MTV?
The whole experience was really something else. I couldn't have imagined a better week to catch spring break for a rap fan. If you enjoy rap, check out Panama City Beach for spring break, trust me.
